All You Need to Know about our DNA Testing Kits

April 20, 2018

Want to get insights into your traits and how your DNA can influence your health and lifestyle?

Our DNA genetic testing kits help you do just that. We use the SNP genotyping process which determines your genetic makeup and helps identify which type of genes you have. Different versions of genes determine different traits.

Evergreen Life DNA genetic testing helps you understand how your genes influence up to four key areas of yourself: your diet, fitness, metabolism and skin. Find out your likelihood of vitamin deficiencies, how you break down carbs, whether you’re suited to cardio or strength training, how your skin ages and many more insights – with tailored advice on what steps you can take to get the best out of your genetics.

How do I order a DNA testing kit?

Our DNA testing kits are available to order from our website by clicking here. Your DNA testing kit will be delivered within 7 working days of confirmation of your order.

Taking the test

What’s in the box?

When your DNA testing kit arrives, you’ll see that it’s really simple to take the test. Rub the cotton bud swab on the inside of your cheek for a good minute – make sure you get all that DNA in your cheek cells on there! Then simply pop it in the post with your pre-paid envelope as quickly as you can. Easy.

Tips to get the best sample

Sometimes samples aren't accepted because they don't contain enough DNA or they can get contaminated. To avoid this, we've got some helpful hints and tips to help you collect the very best DNA sample you can! In your DNA collection kit, there's an instructions leaflet that can help you provide a great sample to send back to the lab. Make sure you read it carefully before you start swabbing! Here's what else we advise:

  • Make sure not to eat, drink, smoke, chew gum, brush teeth, or use mouthwash for at least 1 hour before swabbing your cheek.
  • Clean and dry your hands thoroughly before collecting your sample.
  • Try to avoid touching anything other than your cheek and the swab tube to prevent contamination.
  • With the swab, rub the inside of your cheek vigorously for 1 minute to get all those DNA cheek cells on there.
  • Air dry the swab for 30 seconds before putting it back in the tube to avoid it getting too wet.
  • When you've taken the sample, quickly pop it in the return envelope and post it the same day to avoid the DNA degrading before it gets to the lab.

These are all things we suggest to help you collect the very best DNA sample possible. And giving a good sample means we can provide a more complete, quality set of results for you!

What happens during the testing process?

Here's where the discovery begins! Your sample is tested using a process called SNP genotyping. We'd love to get into more about genotyping here, but why not read our blog on the science behind our tests. After your DNA has been tested, we destroy samples within one month.

When will I get my results?
