Did you know that you can now book your GP appointments, order repeat prescriptions online and download your GP medical record onto your smart phone or computer?* One of the key features of Evergreen Life is being able to link with your GP so you can use online services and have your health records just a couple of clicks away. And there are loads of benefits:
- It saves you time – you can access GP online services on your smartphone or computer meaning no more lengthy phone calls to your GP practice to book appointments* or order repeat prescriptions. *Some GP surgeries removed this functionality during the COVID 19 Pandemic.
- It’s convenient – you can use these services outside of GP opening times and if you have the app, you can do it all from the palm of your hand. If you want to book your GP appointment on a Sunday when the surgery is closed, you can do it sat on the sofa with a cuppa.
- It gives you greater control and it’s safer. Linking to your GP gives you access to your medical record. Along with the other personal measurements and health data you store in the app, this means you have one place to keep the most complete version of your health record.
- It helps your GP and the NHS. Using online services takes pressure off your GP surgery and the NHS. There is evidence that if 30% of patients have full record access, it reduces the need for appointments by 10% and saves hundreds of telephone calls a year. More than that, having a greater engagement with your own health data allows you to make better decisions and lifestyle choices. A healthier you – a healthier NHS.
With Evergreen Life, you can easily and safely gain access to the GP online services your practice has enabled for you.
Option 1: How to access GP online services and records using NHS login
You can get connected without even visiting the surgery by using NHS login – a single, secure login that enables you to swiftly access health and social care apps and websites wherever you see the NHS login button. Just follow the three simple steps below:
- Create your Evergreen Life account
Download the FREE Evergreen Life app here, if you haven’t already. Tap ‘Create an account’ and enter the email address and password that you want to use, or log in with your existing details.
Alternatively, if you don’t have a smartphone, you can also access your GP services using NHS login on the website.
- Link to your GP using NHS login
Go to the GP section on the app or website and tap the blue NHS login button to get started. In the app, you’ll need to tap “Link to your GP”, then enter either your GP practice name, postcode or 6-digit ODS code (if you know it) and select your practice when it appears. Tap “Continue” and choose “Link with NHS login” on the next screen. Tap “Continue with NHS login” and follow the steps on screen to set up your NHS login or enter your existing NHS login information.
- Prove who you are
You’ll need to take a photo of a piece of identification such as your driving licence, passport or European national identity card. You will also need to video yourself saying 4 numbers or scan your face with your phone. After your identity has been verified, you’ll be linked to your online GP services and GP record.
Option 2: How to access GP online services and records using the registration letter
If you can’t use NHS login for any reason, there’s an alternative way to link to your online GP services. Just follow these simple steps:
- Ask your GP for a letter – don’t forget your ID!
Ask your GP practice, face to face or by phone, for a letter or email which gives you access to GP online services. Your letter needs to contain either a “linkage key” or a “passphrase.” Your GP will need to confirm who you are to ensure that no-one but you can access your services. They may need to confirm this in person or you may be able to email a picture of your ID to them – please check with your practice.
- Create your Evergreen Life account
Download the FREE Evergreen Life app here, if you haven’t already. Tap ‘Create an account’ and enter the email address and password that you want to use, or log in with your existing details.
Alternatively, if you don’t have a smartphone, you can also access your GP services using the registration letter on the website.
- Link to your GP
After creating your account, you’ll be able to enter your unique linkage codes contained in the letter sent to you by your GP. To do this, go to the GP section on the app or website and follow the steps for linking using a registration letter. As soon as you’ve entered your linkage codes, you’ll have access to all of the GP online services that your practice has enabled for you.
