There’s so much info out there that tells us how to be well, especially this time of year. And these days we all know that to be well we might need to improve our diet, fitness, sleep or stress levels, but where’s the right place to start for you? Wellness might mean something entirely different to you than it does to others. Which is why we want to help you discover what really matters to you about your own wellness, with health insights that are personal to you.
Your starting point – how do you currently feel?
The first step we’re taking to give you personalised insights, is our Wellness Checks within the Evergreen Life app. These questionnaires are based on clinically-approved research that provide useful insights into your health and wellbeing.
In our wellbeing survey from last year, we found that ‘feeling healthy,’ ‘happy’ and ‘fit’ were the biggest contributing factors for people’s overall wellness. So, it’s not just about how healthy we’re feeling or how much exercise we’re doing - our happiness levels matter to our wellbeing wellbeing too!
Our wellness checks focus on these different areas - food, fitness and happiness - to give you a sense of your overall wellbeing. The mental wellbeing questions measure aspects like your happiness, life satisfaction, and how worthwhile our lives feel. Meanwhile, the food tests have a look at how healthy your diet is based on current guidelines; whilst fitness questions offer a way to measure your current fitness levels against your age and gender.
To get involved with our Wellness Checks:
- Download the app OR be sure to update your app to the latest version in the App Store or Google Play
- Start to receive notifications within the app when a new questionnaire is ready for you
- Check the menu in the app and tap 'Take a Wellness Check' to see if you have any available
How the UK’s wellness measures up
In the UK, we’re facing a huge health challenge – it’s affecting our quality of life and costing our NHS billions every year. With conditions such as stress, diabetes and heart disease becoming prevalent much earlier in our lives, the UK spends the last 20 years of their life in ‘ill health.’ But, did you know that in other countries such as Sweden, they only have as little as four years of ill health? What do you think we can learn from others, and about ourselves to increase our wellness years?
With the influx of social media and national health awareness campaigns, we’re bombarded with information that tells us how to be well. And these days we all know that to be well we might need to improve our diet, fitness, sleep or stress levels, but where’s the right place to start for you?
Discover what wellness means for people like you
Most advice about keeping well comes from studies on a large number of people. But we know that we’re all different which is why that advice doesn’t always work for you as an individual. You might have a completely different definition of wellness to someone else. And there’s also a whole load of research on wellness which hasn’t even been done yet!
The Evergreen Life approach is to uncover good wellness habits based on a simple outcome. How can you feel well and avoid long-term diseases? Despite there being a wealth of health information out there, obesity and heart disease are at an all-time high. Basically, there’s a lot more to learn – and that’s where you come in. We want to help you and all our users get personalised advice so we can all stay well for as long as possible.
By asking questions to a large group about their exercise and fitness habits via the Evergreen Life app, we can ask what people do to stay well and then let you know about the habits and practices of people just like you. Over time, we’ll all know what dietary, mental health and fitness practices people are doing and whether it’s the best way to avoid long-term disease. By pooling our information, we’ll all start to see the ‘Big Picture,’ and expose trends in what well people do compared to those who aren’t as well.
Help everyone stay well: become a Data Donor
Here’s where the Evergreen Life approach to fitness differs… this information is owned by you: you own it, you share it. It’s completely up to you to decide if you want to act on the information and share it for the benefit of others, or simply observe what we find out - you decide. If you do decide to share any information you contribute, it’ll be entirely confidential and completely anonymised. By sharing your data as a Data Donor we can help you help others in a similar way to donating organs. You’ll be doing your bit to help us all be fit and healthy.
By becoming a Data Donor, you contribute to national research in other ways. You allow your data to be harnessed by research bodies such as universities for health research. Because the data you have includes not only aspects of your GP record, but also your own personal data, such as your home BP reading, it is a rich and rare resource for study.

- Select ‘Data and Consent’
- Go into the ‘Data Sharing Options’
- Tick ‘On’ within the ‘Data Donor’ section
